Rainbow Refugee

Support and Advocacy for LGBTQI+ Refugees

Founded in 2000, Rainbow Refugee is a Vancouver-based organization that promotes safe, equitable migration and communities of belonging for people fleeing persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or HIV status.

Rainbow Refugee provides support, information, and system navigation to refugees and refugee claimants seeking refugee status in Canada. The organization manages the Rainbow Refugee Assistance Partnership, allowing it to privately sponsor refugees in collaboration with other LGBTQI+ organizations in the Rainbow Coalition for Refuge.

Sponsor a Refugee

Sponsorship creates a pathway to safer, more accepting communities for LGBTQI+ refugees who are at risk in countries of asylum. Rainbow Refugee Society brings together people who are interested in forming a Circle of Hope. Circles of Hope are sponsorship groups that raise funds to sponsor an LGBTQI+ refugee and help them resettle in British Columbia, Canada.
